Last Saturday, April 12, Haarlem welcomed the grand finale of the Bollenstreek Flower Parade and it was every bit as magical as you’d expect. The parade arrived in the city around 10 PM, lighting up the streets with dazzling colors, incredible floral designs, and a festive atmosphere that felt like spring itself had arrived in full force.
This annual parade has been a beloved tradition since 1947, celebrating the region’s famous flower-growing culture. Every year, it travels from Noordwijk to Haarlem, passing through the Bollenstreek area with floats covered entirely in tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and other spring blooms.
We caught the final stretch and it was worth every minute. The floats were stunning, completely covered in flowers, and the detail in the designs was truly impressive. Families, couples, and tourists lined the streets, all soaking in the beauty and charm of this unique Dutch tradition.
Here are a few photos we took during the parade. Hope they capture even a fraction of how lovely the evening was.
